Ceramic layers

Early failure of hydraulic systems, due to corrosion and wear issues, in the offshore industry is a major problem. The right choice and quality of coating will prevent costs and downtime.

In our 35 years of experience with the coating of hydraulic rods and cylinder liners we have learned that the main cause of failure is corrosion. The offshore environment is getting more and more aggressive towards the rod’s and cylinder’s coating due to pollution issues.

MetamaX is keen on assisting you in the prevention of excessive costs that are due to early failure.

Our plating specifications for galvanic layers as nickel and chrome are especially designed to ensure a long lasting service. Plating is carried out according to ASTM specifications and approved by DNV and Lloyds. Laboratory tests have clearly showed the advantage of good plating practises and field tests have proven our quality. The history of our coatings can predict the future lifetime of your equipment.

Where especially hard chrome layers are attacked due to hydrochloric acid in a seawater environment we would recommend laser cladded layers based on Cobalt or Nickel.

At the start of the newly developed laser based coatings, costs of application were extremely high. Today we can offer you laser cladded layers of proven quality, certified by DNV that will easily triple lifetime at lower costs.
